This kit is for users who already have a MK6 StepStruder®, and want to upgrade their hot end to use our new Aluminum Thermal Core, Cartridge Heater, and Safety Switch. It's just the parts you need, none of the parts you don't! This kit does **NOT contain an MK6 nozzle, MK5 Thermal Barrier, Type K Thermocouple, thermistor, or PTFE Core tubes**.
This allows you to use our new MK6 Plus cartridge heater and aluminum heater core instead of the 5 ohm resistors and steel Thermal core of the MK5 Plastruder and MK6 StepStruder® first edition. Our new cartridge heater and thermal core heats up and cools down faster, and provides more reliable and consistent transmission of heat.
The addition of the smooth bore hole for the cartridge heater, inside the thermal core, is a more effective position of the heater for your extruder. The new MK6 Plus setup is tuned specifically for use with 1.75mm filament, 3mm filament, and our full range of MK6 nozzles. It's the latest and greatest upgrade to the MakerBot® line of extruders, and represents our latest R&D and custom manufactured components.
The MK6 Plus Heater Upgrade Kit is fully swappable with your earlier MK5 Plastruder or MK6 StepStruder® Hotends. This upgrade kit accepts all the same metric hardware, nozzles, and Type K Thermocouple.
