Polylactic Acid (PLA) is an extremely awesome polymer for many reasons. First, it?�s bio-friendly, as it?�s made from corn, which is a renewable resource. Second, it?�s biodegradable, which means it will break down in a landfill. Third, it?�s clear in color, which makes for gorgeous crystalline prints that absolutely scream for LEDs. Last but not least, it has an extremely low shrinkage factor, which means it resists warping, even at very large print sizes. Please read our PLA tutorial page for more information on PLA and how to use it. MakerBot® PLA, now custom extruded for us in the 1.75mm/1.8mm filament format.
